Tips for conquering Test Anxiety, One Exam at a Time.


Exams can be a source of stress and anxiety for many students, and as a parent, it can be difficult to know how to best support your child during this time. Here are some tips for helping your child cope with exam stress and anxiety:

  1. Encourage healthy habits: Encourage your child to maintain a healthy diet, get enough sleep, and engage in regular physical activity. These habits can help reduce stress and improve focus and concentration.

  2. Talk openly about stress and anxiety: Encourage your child to talk openly about their feelings and concerns. Listen actively and validate their feelings.

  3. Establish a study routine: Help your child establish a study routine that works for them. This can include setting aside specific times each day for studying, creating a study schedule, and breaking large assignments into smaller tasks.

  4. Encourage relaxation: Encourage your child to engage in activities that promote relaxation, such as yoga, meditation, or taking a walk.

  5. Provide emotional support: Provide emotional support to your child throughout the exam period. Remind them that you are there for them and that you believe in their ability to do well.

  6. Help them manage their time: Help your child manage their time effectively by encouraging them to prioritize their tasks and to avoid procrastination.

  7. Encourage positive self-talk: You can help your kids deal with test anxiety by teaching them to to use positive self-talk . Show them how to come up with and repeat positive affirmations and how to turn negative thoughts into positive ones.

  8. Most important: Remind them that they can DO HARD THINGS!

Remember, it's important to be patient and understanding with your child during this time. It's normal for them to feel stressed and anxious, and providing them with support and guidance can help them to manage their feelings and to do their best as they navigate the world of test-taking and assessments.
